Tight Squeeze on a Split-Level Driveway
A homeowner on a corner lot called us last October needing to clear a flooded basement in their classic split-level. The driveway was steep, narrow, and covered in slick, wet leaves, making traction difficult for standard trucks. They had heaps of waterlogged carpet to move but were worried a heavy dumpster would crack their aging concrete apron or slide into the yard.
I used the hook-lift system I prefer—something I learned the value of after watching big rigs struggle downtown—to navigate that slope safely. We placed protective wooden boards under the rollers to distribute the weight and set the 15-yard bin right against the garage door. The family loaded the soggy debris easily, and we hauled it away before the neighbors got home from work.
Caleb put the bin exactly where we needed it without scratching the driveway.
