A Sidewalk Project That Couldn't Block the Street
I remember pulling up to this 1960s split-level in Prospect Heights last spring. The homeowner needed their old, cracked driveway and walkway ripped out, but the street's narrow and packed with cars. The crew from a big box store had already told him they'd need a full lane closure permit, which would've taken weeks and cost a fortune. You could see the frustration on his face—his whole spring landscaping plan was stalled because he couldn't get the old concrete out of there.
We dropped a 10-yard concrete dumpster right in his driveway first thing Monday morning. Our driver tucked it in tight, so it didn't even touch the curb. Our crew busted up the slab and had it all loaded by noon the next day. We pulled the full box that afternoon, and by Wednesday, he had his delivery of pavers and was back on schedule. The street never got blocked, and he saved a bundle on those city permits.
You guys had the old slab gone so fast, I was laying my new pavers before the weekend.
